Youth

Proverbs 27:17 says “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”  It’s talking about the ability of good friendships to help make us better people.  We call our youth group “Sharp as Iron” because we want the young people in our church family not simply to have social time together, but also to have a commitment to each other for good.  We want the group to serve the Lord shoulder to shoulder, to live lives that are examples to each other as they honor God, and to encourage and help each other through challenging times.  At SBC, we believe that our young people should be seeking maturity in Christ, and living out the gifts and opportunities God has given them fully.

We’re involved in fun activities that allow us to enjoy the health and friendships God has given — skating, swimming, hiking, games nights, and various outings.  At the same time, we study the Word together, serve together in various projects, and support the ministry of Compassion, even as we encourage youth to serve within the larger Body of Christ.

The group is an open and inclusive group of teens, aged 13 to 19 — not perfect, but growing and maturing!
